Leading Maritime Industry Show Joins Big Whig Podcasts

WASHINGTON Big Whig Media –  a full-service multimedia production studio in the heart of Washington DC, announced today that the American Maritime Podcast, which covers the United States domestic maritime industry, will join its Big Whig Podcasts network of engaging news and advocacy shows, powered by Evergreen Podcasts

The American Maritime Podcast is supported by the American Maritime Partnership (AMP), the voice of the domestic maritime industry, which launched the show in 2020 to focus on issues that matter to the 650,000 men and women of American Maritime by interviewing high-profile guests in the industry, government, military and think tank space.

The American Maritime Podcast focuses on the importance of the American maritime industry in supporting the U.S. armed services as well as the positive impact of the Maritime industry on the economy,” said Patrick Bergamasco, Director of Operations at Big Whig Media. “We are glad to be able to bring this show onto the Big Whig Podcasts network to feature these leading voices in national security.”

The podcast hosts a rotating list of experts to cover a variety of domestic maritime-related topics, with a key focus on the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, popularly known as the “Jones Act,” a law that states that all vessels transporting cargo or passengers between U.S. ports must be American built, American crewed and American flagged.

The American Maritime Podcast is filmed in Studio 2 of Big Whig Media's Washington, DC studios.

The Jones Act has strong support for its role in ensuring the United States maintains its expertise in shipbuilding and waterborne transportation. Current and former lawmakers from across the aisle, as well as America’s military leaders, have all supported the law and the important role of American Maritime in supporting U.S. national, homeland and economic security. Many of these leaders have been featured as guests on the American Maritime Podcast

Other topics of interest include America’s inland waterways, shipbuilding and ship repair, sustainability initiatives, offshore wind development, U.S. national security, cybersecurity, the China threat and much more

Shows by the AMP recorded at Big Whig will be distributed to Evergreen Podcasts, a leading podcast network provider that powers the Big Whig Podcasts network, announced at Podcast Movement 2022. The American Maritime Podcast has been filmed at Big Whig’s location at the Willard Hotel in Washington since its start in 2020.
